A Barred Tee is a special type of tee fitting designed for pigging operations in pipelines. It looks like a standard tee but has internal bars (or rods) welded across the branch opening. The main purpose is that the bars prevent pipeline pigs (cleaning or inspection devices) from entering the branch line during pigging, ensuring they stay on the main run. This helps maintain flow integrity and prevents damage to equipment. Manufactured in special steels such as Duplex, Super Duplex and 800H, they can be produced in heavy wall thicknesses and according to custom drawings, with FEM analyses and in-house testing that guarantee geometric precision, reliability and long-term durability.
